Liberty Burger: Freedom from Hormones, Stimulants and Unnecessary Antibiotics

The Napa Burger at Liberty Burger in Dallas, TX

Still reeling from my Hopdoddy buzz (acquired only 30 hours earlier), I visited Dallas-based Liberty Burger. The concepts are similar — locally sourced, minimally processed beef, bison, chicken and turkey — but Liberty Burger has its unique twist on the burger patty: a blend of tenderloin, chuck and brisket.

You can choose from a number of burger creations. On this visit, I went with the traditional Liberty Burger and nibbled on my wife’s Napa Burger — gorgonzola cheese, arugula, green olives, roasted tomatoes, onion and basil garlic aioli. We also split the Crunchy salad and fries.

Both burgers were good, but the Napa Burger was a particularly delectable, with its roasted tomato and aioli. The Crunchy salad — loaded with lettuce, feta cheese, almonds, walnuts, apples and more and topped with buttermilk garlic dressing — exceeded expectation.

The temptation to compare Liberty Burger and Hopoddy seems natural, but I’ll resist. Instead let’s simply appreciate and accept both as valuable constituents of the Dallas gourmet burger landscape.
