Coffee House Cafe: The Name is the Description

Some say Coffee House Cafe in Far North Dallas serves the best cup in town — too bad for me I don’t drink coffee. I do like food however, and judging from the crowded parking lot I see every time I drive past, good things must be happening in the kitchen.

The day I visited Coffee House Cafe, I couldn’t help but notice more luxury class cars in the parking lot than not. Not that there’s anything wrong with driving a BMW, Merecedes, Lexus, or Infinity, it’s just that I was expecting more of a coffee house crowd — you know, hatchbacks, bicycles, goatees, laptops, and such.

With such an extensive menu, i found it difficult to make a decision. Should I go with a breakfast item or try a burger, sandwich, or taco? The Akaushi Beef Burger was tempting, but I went with the Fresh Herb Omelet with goat cheese.

According to their website, Coffee House Cafe prepares everything in house (they even cure their own meats) except for bread and pastries, which are prepared by a local baker. The coffee is 100% Certified Organic, Fair Trade, and Shade Grown in case you were wondering.

My omelet came with toast and house potatoes. I devoured everything, so there’s not doubt it was good, but I wondered why I ordered an omelet in the first place. I’m not really a breakfast person.

As I surveyed the outside patio at Coffee House Cafe, I saw someone enjoying their burger at the next table, and I absolutely coveted the Almost Rueben sandwich and mound of scrumptious-looking fries at another table. Maybe next time.
